GIVE UP YOUR BED FOR ONE NIGHT - SO YOUTH FACING HOMELESSNESS DON’T HAVE TO.

Thousands of young people in New Orleans have no safe place to lay their heads at night. Neglected, abused, and exploited, they are all good kids who deserve a chance. Most suffer from severe trauma following years of physical and/or sexual abuse - and exposure to the violence of the streets. Basic needs like a hearty meal and a warm bed are luxuries. Covenant House is their safe haven, offering safe shelter and wrap-around services, including education and job training, so they can move forward to an adulthood free of poverty and the threat of homelessness.

STUDENTS STEP OUT OF THE CLASSROOM AND INTO THE STREETS.

Start a Student Sleep Out to immerse yourself and your peers in some of the problems that homeless teens face every day and to be part of the solution to these problems.

Student Sleep Outs can be held anywhere in the world.  Students take the lead recruiting classmates and planning the program, with guidance from our staff.

Students fundraise for Covenant House to keep the lights on and the doors open for all of the kids who need help. Then, they spend one night sleeping outside in solidarity with the homeless youth they are helping.

Participating schools have included Isidore Newman High School, Tulane University, Xavier University, and Holy Cross College.

We're All Being Told to Stay Home. But What if you Don't Have a Home?

Covenant House is on the front lines of the Covid-19 pandemic, serving as the last line of defense for our community's most vulnerable youth. Many homeless young people have compromised immune systems. Besides fear of the disease itself, they are also fearful of their economic futures; over 85% of Covenant House residents lost their jobs in the first weeks of the pandemic. Their resilience is remarkable; but in this time of extraordinary crisis, they need your support more than ever.

Last year, Covenant House cared for nearly 900 youth & children overcoming homelessness in New Orleans. By sleeping out, you will show them they are not alone.

With your help, we will continue to keep our doors open 24/7. We will never close our doors to a young person in need. Thank you for believing in them - and in the promise of their futures.
