Thousands of young people in New Orleans have no safe place to lay their heads at night. Neglected, abused, and exploited - they are all good kids who deserve a chance. Most suffer from severe trauma following years of physical and/or sexual abuse - and exposure to the violence of the streets. Basic needs like a hearty meal and a warm bed are true luxuries. Covenant House is their safe haven, offering safe shelter and wrap-around services, including education and job training, so they can move forward to an adulthood free of poverty and the threat of homelessness.
You can make a difference for homeless kids.
When you Sleep Out - it means our kids don’t have to. Sleeping Out is your chance to show them you care. All the funds you raise are put to work immediately - providing food, clothing, shelter, medical & behavioral healthcare, individual & family counseling, job readiness training & placement, educational support, life skills development, short & long-term housing, and more. In the past eight years, our average daily census has increased from 45 to 164 kids per night. By sleeping out, you will show them they are not alone.

"Supporting Covenant House is an easy choice. The work they do for homeless youth is incredible. I look back at my own childhood and can’t imagine where’d I be without the support of my family. More than just a shelter, it's a place for children to find a foundation to grow and be loved."
- Thomas Morstead, 2019 Sleep Out Co-Chair
"The stories of resilience of these amazing kids stay with you long after the Sleep Out is over. Their decision to live and abide within the Covenant House structure shows they are taking the first step - the biggest step - to change their lives for the better."
- Katie Harvill, 2019 Sleep Out Co-Chair
