Sleep Out in NYC
November 18, 2021 - November 19th, 2021
Sleep Out is back in New York City with three ways to participate! Review them below and find more details in our FAQ guide and event schedule.
-
Sleep Out At Home
You can Sleep Out from home (or anywhere that is safe and legal) and support young people at Covenant House New York.
First, you will identify a place that’s safe and legal for you to sleep. Yards, garages, terraces, porches, and living room floors are all good options (anything that’s not your bed!).
On event night, you will tune into a livestream to hear from Covenant House alumni and front-line workers. You will also have the chance to join live breakout rooms for interactive conversations with Sleepers and experts.
When the livestream ends, it's time to settle in for your night without a bed. You can join us back online in the morning for a live virtual reflection.
Sleep Out from home is a great option for Sleepers participating as a family, those who live a little too far from Midtown, and those who want the option to set their own fundraising goal (we suggest $1,000 for adults and $500 for youth, but it's really up to you!). Our team will provide you with a complete toolkit to plan a meaningful experience from anywhere.

Sleep Out At Covenant House New York
We are thrilled to welcome Sleepers back to the Cov, which is scheduled to open only a few weeks before we Sleep Out.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions and some ongoing construction, a limited number of spaces are available. The first 50 people to register as an in-person Sleeper will be invited to Sleep Out at Covenant House New York (CHNY). All Sleepers at CHNY must be over the age of 23 and will be required to show proof of vaccination.
CHNY Sleepers are asked to set a $5,000 fundraising goal and raise at least 50% of that goal ($2,500) by November 1st to retain your spot in the parking lot. Sleepers who do not raise $5,000 by November 18th may be asked to defer their spot in the parking lot for this year.
Alternative participation options are available for Sleepers who are not able to reach these fundraising goals! Click through the options above and below to learn more.
Please keep in mind that this year's Sleep Out is a hybrid event, which means you will spending part of night in a virtual program and only traveling to Covenant House New York for the overnight. The overnight experience will include a brief candlelight vigil, a space to sleep outside, and a morning reflection.
At this time, we do not have the space or technology for you to join the virtual program from CHNY so plan your travel accordingly. Please review the FAQs and event schedule for more details.
