I have accepted Covenant House’s challenge to spend a night sleeping on the street so homeless kids don’t have to.
The Sleep Out is not about pretending to be homeless. It’s an act of solidarity with the 4.2 million young people who experience homelessness each year. It’s a decision that we can’t stay indoors while so many kids remain outside.
One night can make a difference.
As part of my Sleep Out, I am raising funds and awareness for Covenant House, a shelter for homeless and trafficked youth. Covenant House offers these young people so much more than a safe place to sleep - they welcome each kid with absolute respect and unconditional love, and their continuum of care provides essential services to help kids transition from homelessness to independence.
Rachel is an actress and a proud recent addition to the Board of Directors at Covenant House International. She has appeared on a variety of stages and screens since graduating from NYU in 2012. She was most recently seen on stage in the Sam Gold helmed Othello at New York Theatre Workshop and is currently stars as Miriam “Midge” Maisel in Amazon’s award winning series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Rachel is honored to join the Broadway community for the sixth time (joined by our film/tv colleagues for the first time!) to raise awareness about homeless youth and to support the vitally important and life changing work being done by the Covenant House every day. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference. Please give what you can and help spread the word! Thank you for your generosity and support.
