Sleep Out: Stage & Screen

I'm Sleeping Out

This is my 6th Year and again I have accepted Covenant House’s challenge to spend a night sleeping on the street so homeless kids don’t have to.

The Sleep Out is not about pretending to be homeless. It’s an act of solidarity with the 4.2 million young people who experience homelessness each year. It’s a decision that we can’t stay indoors while so many kids remain outside.

One night can make a difference.

As part of my Sleep Out, I am raising funds and awareness for Covenant House, a shelter for homeless and trafficked youth. Covenant House offers these young people so much more than a safe place to sleep - they welcome each kid with absolute respect and unconditional love, and their continuum of care provides essential services to help kids transition from homelessness to independence.

About Me

About 10 years ago the composer Neil Berg asked me to sing at a benefit concert for Covenant House and I loved it.Meeting and spending time with the CH residents in the greenroom was  wonderful and watching them take the stage to tell their stories made my heart smile. I have done many concerts over the years with Neil Berg raising money and awareness for this great organization. I have also joined the board of Covenant House International and have proudly served for almost 9 years. We started the Sleep Out 6 years ago and together with the Broadway community have raised over 1 million dollars. This year we have expanded to include our colleagues from film and television and hope to continue this movement opening our hearts and wrapping our arms around our kids in love and solidarity.
