I know everything is terrible right now. I know we are all spread thin. I know it's an intense time to think about giving money to an organization - even one as good as covenant house - when many of us don't know where our next paycheck will come from. But every penny matters and this does feel like the moment to dig, dig, dig and hold up the folks who need it most right now. I don't think there's ever been a more urgent moment to support the extraordinary young people who come through the doors of covenant house.
The future CAN actually look bright.
I have accepted Covenant House’s challenge to spend a night sleeping on the street so homeless kids don’t have to.
The Sleep Out is not about pretending to be homeless. It’s an act of solidarity with the 4.2 million young people who experience homelessness each year. It’s a decision that we can’t stay indoors while so many kids remain outside.
One night can make a difference.
As part of my Sleep Out, I am raising funds and awareness for Covenant House, a shelter for kids experiencing homelessness and trafficking. Covenant House offers these young people so much more than a safe place to sleep - they welcome each kid with absolute respect and unconditional love, and their continuum of care provides essential services to help kids transition from homelessness to independence.
