SLEEP ON THE STREET FOR ONE NIGHT, SO HOMELESS KIDS DON’T HAVE TO.

Thousands of young people in New Orleans have no safe place to lay their heads at night. Neglected, abused, and exploited - they are all good kids who deserve a chance. Most suffer from severe trauma following years of physical and/or sexual abuse - and exposure to the violence of the streets. Basic needs like a hearty meal and a warm bed are true luxuries. Covenant House is their safe haven, offering safe shelter and wrap-around services, including education and job training, so they can move forward to an adulthood free of poverty and the threat of homelessness.

STUDENTS STEP OUT OF THE CLASSROOM AND INTO THE STREETS.

Start a Student Sleep Out to immerse yourself and your peers in some of the problems that homeless teens face every day and to be part of the solution to these problems.

Student Sleep Outs can be held anywhere in the world. Covenant House doesn’t dictate dates or times, rather, we follow the lead of middle school, high school, and college students across the country who take on the challenge of planning a Sleep Out with their classmates on their school grounds, with a civic club or faith group at a community center, as members of a sports team on a field, or with a group of like-minded friends in their own backyard.

These students fundraise for Covenant House to keep the lights on and the doors open for all of the kids who need help. Then, they spend one night sleeping outside in solidarity with the homeless kids they are helping.

Sleep Out for one night so a homeless kid can have a better life.
