Please check your email the week before Sleep Out for an updated packing list as well as arrival instructions. Most often, your packing list will include: 

• Your overnight travel bag (limit one per person) 
• Layers of clothing
• Personal medications (as needed) 
• Basic toiletries (optional) 

You should not bring: 

• Alcohol or drugs of any kind. Sleep Out is always a dry event; alcohol and drugs of any kind are strictly prohibited. Also, we must insist that you refrain from having alcoholic beverages or using other substances before arriving at the Sleep Out. Many of our residents and alumni have struggled with substance use and are hyper-aware of the odors of alcohol and marijuana; for their safety and security, please take great care. 
• Food and drink (other than water), unless required for medical purposes.
• Pillows, airbeds, or other luxury bedding items.
• Unnecessary valuables. While we do provide staffed storage areas, we recommend you limit the number of valuables (electronics, jewelry, money, etc.) for your peace of mind...and ours. 

We will provide for you: 

• Sleeping bag 
• Light snacks and breakfast (note: dinner will not be provided, please eat before you arrive!)
• Bottled water and/or a water bottle filling station
• Secure storage for your belongings, available to you at all times 
• Restroom facilities (indoors) 

Sleep Out is a rain or shine event. Young people on the street don't always have a place to seek refuge until they find Covenant House. During the Sleep Out, the same goes for you. As long as it is safe to be outdoors, we encourage you to remain there, however we will always have indoor space available if needed.
