What is expected of Sleepers?
Sleepers should approach the event with an open heart, an open mind, and a willingness to work hard for something outside of your comfort zone. Sleepers are invited to attend a program before heading outside for the night, and will be asked to leave all luxury bedding items inside.
All Sleepers are required to fundraise before the event, working towards a goal of $1,500. To help you get there, our team provides coaching, materials, and hands-on support. Read more about why fundraising is an essential part of the Sleep Out experience.

Will I be safe?
Safety is our first and foremost concern, whether it is for the young people we serve or for supporters at events. We are taking all necessary precautions to ensure you are safe at the Sleep Out.
All on-site participants will be sleeping in a safe and secure area, with room for social distancing between you and other Sleepers.
Sleepers will have access to indoor clean and sanitized restrooms within Covenant House Florida and will be required to wear masks when indoors.
Sleepers who are feeling ill will be asked to stay home for the safety of other participants, staff, and youth. Temperature checks may be required as well as a brief health questionnaire.
Virtual participants, please select a place to sleep out that is safe from harm. Safe places could be your living room floor, choosing to sleep on your bed without blankets, or in a tent in a secure campground or in your backyard.

What should I bring and what should I leave at home?
We suggest you bring weather-appropriate clothing layers, personal toiletries and medications, and a smartphone (if you use one). You may also want to bring a reusable water bottle.
Please bring your own sleeping bag, as sleeping bags will not be provided.
Please do not bring any luxury bedding items, pillows, etc. as we expect you to sleep in solidarity with youth experiencing homelessness. We do not recommend that you sleep outside with any valuable items. We also ask that you refrain from bringing alcohol or drugs of any kind; Sleep Out is always a dry event.
