About Covenant House Georgia

At Covenant House Georgia (CHGA), we are much more than just a shelter. CHGA is the only agency in Atlanta providing shelter and supportive services specific to young people ages 16 to 24 who are facing homelessness and trafficking. Our persistent goal is to provide youth with a safe place off the streets and comprehensive support to discover pathways that will end their homelessness for good. Therefore, when youth are rescued from the streets, our first step is to secure their basic needs in our Drop-In Center and Crisis Shelter so that we can then triage their higher needs and begin developing a plan to advance their independence. We provide comprehensive case management support, health and wellness programs, educational and vocational services, life skills classes, and independent living programs. Through these, we help youth heal from their past traumas, realize their own potential, and lay the foundation for their ongoing stability.

Research from Georgia State University indicates that there are more than 3,300 youth experiencing homelessness in our community on any given night, and we know that on the streets, they are at great risk of victimization. These young people have no other place to turn in response to shelter-in-place ordinances; now more than ever, we are their home. Our response to this crisis has been to keep our doors open, provide open-intake to receive new youth 24/7, and lean into those in our care, meeting their basic needs while also engaging them in programs that lift their spirits and motivate them. We are committed to remaining open to receive youth throughout this time. In FY20 we served 1,300 young people through our services and with your help, we will continue to be a place of refuge, a place of healing and growth, and a place where young people transition from surviving to thriving.
