How It Works

Join or Start a Sleep Out

This year, Spring Sleep Out events are hosted at Covenant House California’s sites in Los Angeles and Oakland on March 25th. You can Sleep Out by yourself or get your friends, family, and co-workers involved and register as part of a team.

If you are interested in participating virtually, you can register for Sleep Out America on April 29th, 2022 and can email [email protected] with your interest or to schedule time to talk.

Fundraise and Spread Awareness

When you register, you will create a personal fundraising page that you can customize with a photo, story, and fundraising goal. You can then share your personal URL with your network so they can donate directly to your page.

We ask all Sleepers to make a good faith effort in hitting the $1,000 fundraising goal. With that being said, Sleepers must raise a minimum of $250 in order to attend the in-person event. Top Sleepers & Fundraising Teams to be awarded the night of!

100% of the money raised will be directly allocated to our services and help Covenant House California continue to provide 24/7 care. And, the awareness and funds you raise helps us provide a better future for youth overcoming homelessness, urging us closer to a world where everyone has a safe place to sleep.

Never fundraised before? Don't worry. Our fundraising tools include an easy guide to get started, sample messages, and shareable content. You will also have access to a fundraising coach, who can help you navigate a fundraising strategy and will provide you with materials to help you meet your goal.

Give Up Your Bed for One Night

Covenant House California is ready and thrilled to host an in-person Spring Sleep Out this year at our sites in Los Angeles and Oakland. Location details for SoCal and NorCal Sleepers to come!

Spring Sleep Out includes a program where Sleepers will dive deeper into our mission, hear from youth, alumni, and front-line staff about the impact of your efforts, and engage in meaningful conversation with each other.

In the morning, we encourage you to join or host a morning reflection to talk through your experience, how it differs from what youth facing homelessness experience, and ways you can stay engaged in the movement to end youth homelessness.
